Days for Girls Sewing Event

Join us for a Sew-A-Thon in support of Days for Girls, a non-profit organization which provides sustainable feminine hygiene kits for girls in Kenya. Due to social and economic restrictions adolescent girls in Kenya can miss up to 20% of school days each year because they do not have access to sanitary products. Representatives from Days for Girls & CtH will teach sewing and serging techniques to make shields, liners and drawstring bags.
Participants are welcome to bring their own sewing machines or sergers, although machines will be provided for use. Non-sewers are welcome to help with cutting, ironing and assembly.
Donations of the following will also be accepted:
Pre-washed Fabric (100% Cotton or Flannel) in bright colors and prints (NO animal prints or camoflouge) Ideally in 2.5 yard increments though smaller-sized pieces are also useful
Girls cotton Briefs size 10-16 (No characters or words)
Brightly colored 100% Cotton Washcloths (No White)
Ziploc gallon Freezer Bags (Only Ziploc brand, not slider closing)
