Are you looking for some meaningful volunteer sewing? Imagine being a young girls in vulnerable circumstances and the joy that she will feel being gifted a beautiful, brand-new, handmade dress?
Dress A Girl Around the World has undertaken this mission. Join us at Close to Home and use your skills in support of this worthwhile charity.
Each day there will be informational demonstrations (at 10:30 & 12:30) to instruct participants about how to make the dresses. Once completed, the dresses will be donated to Dress A Girl to be delivered to girls in need.
Participants who wish to sew should bring their own sewing machines or sergers. Each dress requires one yard of new 100% cotton quilting fabric and half a yard of 5/8" elastic. Lace, trims & smaller pieces of fabric can be used for embellishment of necklines, hems & pockets. Materials can be from personal "stash", purchased at CTH, or selected from donated items. Kits will be available for those who prefer to sew at home. Non-sewers are welcome to help with cutting, ironing and assembly.
There is no fee for this event, but registration is required.
