The fringing foot is designed for fagoting and sewing thread fringe. This decorative touch is especially effective in applique work. The foot has a small divider in it so that when you make a wide zig-zag stitch, you will wind up with a very large loop. Then simply cut the loop close to one side of the stitches. whichever side you want the fringe to be free on, and you'll have made your own thread fringe!
